CREATE AND WIN FEAT.SETWET
Hello my lovely people!! In today’s world, many men are focusing on the way they look more and more. But there are always so many questions- does the look suit your face? Is this right for this occasion? Does this go with your personality? So to make life a little easier for them to move their styling game beyond the usual, Set Wet has recently created the Set Wet Signature Styles along with their Chief Style Officer and celebrity hairstylist, Aalim Hakim and launched them with me and a few other bloggers recently in MUMBAI. Moving ahead; here is my version of the three styles in order of appearance of the photo diary above that were curated by Aalim the other day.
The Aviator Style
In a formal gathering, your hair is one of your most important accessories. As the craftsman of your hair, it is in your hands to mould it into a style that is understated yet sharp.
The key to this hairstyle is the partition, while instantly gives you a serious, controlled look. The sides are kept tight, while the top is left with some movement. As a throwback to Cary Grant’s 1940s sleek side part, it will make you look like the cool guy who can mean business when he has to. Just 1 minute, and your hair will be ready to do the talking for you.
1) First up, towel dry your hair and create the desired partition of your choice. This depends on the natural fall of your hair and what looks better on you. For Ranveer, Aalim has made a parting from the right side of his hair. You can either do it on your left, right, or even go sleek back Italian style with no parting.
Make sure you are happy with the basic look before applying the gel as it becomes harder to change the shape once that is done.
2) Take a one rupee coin sized amount of Set Wet ‘Wet Look’ Hairstyling Gel on your palm. It will add some serious panache for your formal look, as it gives you a glossy finish along with a great hold that will stay in place as long as you need to.
3) Rub the gel on your fingers, and then apply by running your fingers through your hair.
4) Next, focus on the top of your hair. Run your fingers through the top of your hair in the direction of the partition to add some texture and movement. But if you want a flatter, sleeker look on the top, run a small paddle brush through your hair.
5) Finally, work on the sides. Use the brush here to keep them clean and flat like Ranveer. But if you want to add a bit of texture on the sides, you can stick to your fingers again.
And voila! Your hair is all set in the Aviator Style!
We also have few more tips from Aalim to keep in mind when creating this look.
- You don’t need to be clean shaven for a formal look. Nowadays, a bit of stubble adds more character to your overall turn out. Just make sure your growth is not uneven and scraggly.
- If you have a round face, avoid the partition and go straight from front to back. You need to add more body on the top so that it balances out into an oval shape. So stick to just your fingers.
- For curly haired guys, make your brush your best bud. Tame those curls to be firm and straight by brushing them really hard on the top and sides.
- Make sure to use half the amount of gel if you have thin hair. If you apply too much, it will wear your hair down and it will look even scantier than before.
The Wanderer look.
When you are keeping it casual, your hair has to be an effortless expression of yourself. Mould it into a bed head style that is natural to your hair, and it will be the best thing you can do for your look.Inspired from hairstyling trendsetter Neymar Jr., the star of this look is the tousled texture and separation. With no defined grammar, it lets you play with a messy front, back, or sides, and adds a dash of surprise to your everyday look. Just 1 minute, and your hair will be cool, collected, and up for just about anything.
So here are the steps!
1) Make sure your hair is towel-dried before you start.
2) Take a one rupee coin sized amount of Set Wet ‘Casual Hold’ Hairstyling Gel on your palm. It lets you get creative for your casual look, keeping your hair in place while allowing it the right amount of natural movement.
3) Rub the gel on your fingers, and then apply by running your fingers through your hair.
4) Now get all your hair from the back to the front, and adjust your strands to look how you want. Add as much texture as you want.
5) Focus on the front and sides first. Ranveer’s hair is standing on the top, with few strands left in the front on the forehead. The sides are also left uneven to add to the messy charm of this style.
You can spike it upwards to the side of your natural fall, or add more texture on the sides by pushing some strands in uneven directions to get a more laidback look.
6) Next, finish up the back. Ranveer’s back hair is left standing as well to give a completely out-of-bed look, but you can keep it tight if you like.
And voila! Your hair is all set in The Wanderer Style!
We also have few more tips from Aalim to keep in mind when creating this look.
- Stay away from the brush or comb, and only use your fingers when creating this look. But if you are perhaps looking for a semi-casual look, then use a brush to create a partition and then break it with your hands to add movement.
- Your facial hair needs to complement your hair. If it is too bushy or unkempt, you will look less bed-head and more like you-don’t-give-a-damn. So make sure you hit the right balance.
- If you have a round face, leaving your hair down will be a disaster. Your ideal move would be to have more body on the top with some uneven texture on the sides.
- For those with an angular face like Ranveer, make sure to leave some hair on your forehead to give you a more proportionate lo
The SpunksterStyle
At any social do, your hair is your most noticeable feature in a sea of heads and bodies. So if you are looking to make a good first impression, it needs to do all the talking.
This style is a fresh, daring take on a peaked side crop. Styled off the hairline, it is spiked from front to back at a 45 degree angle, adding height and movement at the same time. With the sides kept tight, it has the right amount of geometry to the look. Just 1 minute, and your hair will stay on point all night long.
So now, the steps!
1) Make sure your hair is towel-dried before you start.
2) Take a one rupee coin sized amount of Set Wet ‘Vertical Hold’ Hairstyling Gel on your palm. Its special formula is perfect for vertical styling as it holds the spikes in place for longer.
3) Rub the gel on your palms, and then apply through your hair by moving your palms in a circular motion. This adds more body to your hair.
4) Now get all your hair from the back to the front, and spike it upwards in the natural direction of your hair. A straight up 90-degree spike is a little harsh, so keep it at 45 degree to make it more approachable. Make sure to use your fingers while raking the front to add texture.
5) Next, work the sides and back. Use your fingers on your sides, as the added movement softens the look against the spike. Or if you prefer a sleeker look, use a small paddle brush on them. For your back, definitely keep it sleek with a brush.
And voila! Your hair is all set in the Spunkster Style!
We also have few more tips from Aalim to keep in mind when creating this look.
- If you are out and want to touch up your hair, don’t reapply more gel. Instead, just use a little water to unlock your hair, and restyle as you wish.
- The style is ideal for men with a mop of thick, straight or wavy hair. But if you have curly hair, you can also make it work by adding even more geometry. Keeping the sides tight, while the front is high and to the side, is a good option.
- If you are on the shorter side, it will add a boost of height to your overall look.
